World renown Author, Film Writer, Civil Rights Activist, and Lecturer Sheyann Webb Christburg

Dear Parents,

Universal Academy is proud to announce that because of our School’s District “A” Rating by the Texas Education Agency and partnership with the International Cambridge University Academic Program we have been selected as the only school in the State of Texas to host the world renown Author, Film Writer, Civil Rights Activist, and Lecturer Sheyann Webb Christburg. Mrs. Christburg will be on our campus to speak to our students in grades 6th – HS on How Education is Key to Empowerment on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at noon in the multi-purpose room of our Coppell campus.

Mrs. Christburg is the youngest living Freedom Fighter to march with Dr. Martin King Jr. & the Honorable Late Great John Lewis at eight years old in the Salem to Montgomery Freedom March on March 7, 1965. Our guest is a graduate of Tuskegee University and has been traveling all over the world for more than 25 years as a lecturer empowering young people about the power of education and living their dreams. Mrs. Christburg is the author of the book and Disney Movie Salem, Lord Salem the story starring Yolonda King (the daughter of Martin Luther King Jr.) and Cliffton Powell.

Again, we are honored to the first and only school in the State of Texas selected receive this honor to host the Sheyann Webb Christburg lecturer series for our students on the campus of Universal Academy. This event will be streamed on our Universal Academy Facebook media page.
