Dear Faculty, Staff, and Parents:
We hope that you and your family are doing well, staying healthy, and enjoying the summer months. Please review the Universal Academy District Updates regarding the Reopening of school.
School Begins With ONLINE Learning For ALL Students (PK-12) For the FIRST Six-Weeks of School:
With the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19, Universal Academy School Board Members have approved to start the school year with ALL Students (PK-12) using an ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM for the First Six-Weeks of School (August 31, 2020 – October 9, 2020). Please know that this decision was not made lightly, but out of concern for the safety and health of all students, faculty, and staff we feel this is our best option at this time.
You may review or download the 2020-2021 School Calendar on the school website at View Calendar
Universal Academy plans for the 2020-2021 school year include the option to choose either a face-to-face or a remote learning environment. The face-to-face will start after the first six-weeks of school. However, while we are planning for two different instructional environments, please know that we will follow recommendations for school opening and operations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as state and local health officials. We are also awaiting further guidance from the Texas Education Agency, and therefore must be flexible in our planning. As adjustments may be necessary throughout the coming school year, it will be our priority to keep our community informed of those changes and updates. Please continue to check the school website and social media for updated information regarding the Universal Academy Reopening Plans and Instructional Options.
In order to properly plan for the 2020-2021 school year, All surveys will need to be completed by Friday, August 21, 2020. Parents may click on the link below to complete the Survey.
Universal Academy will implement an Asynchronous Instructional Plan with some synchronous learning embedded. Students will be engaged in the learning materials and interacting intermittently with the teacher via the computer or other electronic devices including the telephone. Parents will have the option to choose either a face-to-face or an online learning environment after the First Six-Weeks of School (August 31 – October 9). We strongly encourage all parents to complete the survey to help us plan for the 2020-2021 school year.
- Face-to-Face: Students and teachers will attend class in-person with additional safety measures in alignment with state and federal guidelines and recommendations.
- Universal Academy Online Learning Platform: Parents will have the choice to select this program which is virtual (remote) learning consisting of asynchronous instruction.
Universal Academy believes that it is imperative that we continue to have open communication with faculty, staff, and parents. Please continue to visit the school website and all social media platforms for immediate district updates and changes. At this time, we are experiencing a high call volume but someone will return your telephone call or email within 72 hours or 3 business days. You may also email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Meet The Teacher Nights:
Due to the spread of COVID-19 relating to large crowds, we have scheduled all of the Fall 2020 Meet The Teacher Nights Online. Please review the campus schedules below. Parents will receive an email or telephone call from the district regarding the online links to attend the meetings. The links will be sent to all parents by Friday, August 21.
