Dear Parent/Guardian of Universal Academy Coppell Students,
In keeping with Universal Academy’s practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all student families of Universal Academy-Coppell that we have a lab-confirmed student case. At this time, we are notifying all parents of the lab-confirmed case but will only quarantine the grade level and staff members with direct-close contact of the individual. The student has not been on campus for 11 days and at this time we feel safe to continue on-campus, in-person instruction to all other students. We will continue with all cleaning and disinfecting protocols outlined in the Return to School Guidance and COVID-19 Policies and Procedures.
Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her. All parents will receive a separate email from Human Resources if close contact was encountered with your student. We will keep you apprised of further updates by the Universal Academy Website, email, and phone calls.
While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, to watch for symptoms of COVID-19.
Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
- Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
- Sore throat;
- New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);
- Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or
- New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
- Loss of taste and smell
If you or any member of the Universal Academy community does begin experiencing any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We encourage anyone in the Universal Academy community who is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19 to please notify our school by contacting the Coppell Campus at 972-393-5834.
