UA students place in VASE competition

Congratulations to Mrs. Carrie Johnson (Lead Art Teacher, District) and Mrs. Heather Slate-Quinlan (Art Teacher, Irving). The Universal Academy students from both campuses competed in the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) through the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA). The competition was held at Mac Arthur High School in Irving, Texas with 1,526 entries. Universal Academy had seven entries and each student received a regional medal and one student, Leena Alam, made UA history by being the first UA student to qualify for State. The state competition will be held at San Marcos ISD in April. The team would like to send a special “Thank You” to the new Art Teacher, Ms. Alexandra Patterson (Coppell) who helped take the students to the competition.
